Some translations call it Lake Gennesaret. Others call it the Sea of Galilee. Either way, it’s clear water and picturesque scenery is a very familiar place in Jesus’ ministry.
Shaped like a pear, the broadest point is almost seven miles wide, and it was 121 miles long. Even though it was secluded in the Jordan Valley, it provided a “highway” from Babylon to Damascus. The west side of the lake was more populated than the east side, which was close to the Syrian border.
