Salvation is the deliverance from the consequences of sin – spiritual death and separation from God.

General

  • It has always been about obedience and disobedience. God was ready for the disobedience. Oh, yeah. He could have squashed that bug real fast. But He didn’t. He let it play out because He had the plan of salvation set in stone. He was always going to have Jesus redeem us (What Is the Relationship Between Righteousness and Obedience?).
  • God always knew we were going to be disobedient. If we were going to remain faithful (which is He would rather have happened), He wouldn’t have needed to design the plan of salvation before He made us (Is Peace an Attitude?).
  • God put the plan of salvation in place long before Adam and Eve sinned. So, maybe God did just accept because that was part of The Plan (Eph. 1: 4) (Is God Really in Control Right Now?).
  • Even if we do not feel that we have sinned (but we have), those who have not been given salvation are separated from God (Is God Really in Control Right Now?).
  • God wants a relationship with us and will call us. His gift of salvation is available to any and all who believe. He is calling us to life, to contentment, and to be heirs as His children (What Is the Relationship Between Righteousness and Wisdom?).
  • Because of grace, the plan of salvation was designed (Did Jesus or His Blood Redeem Us?).
  • Salvation is not a license to keep on doing the opposite of God’s laws and commandments. We are accountable for doing the do’s and not doing the don’ts (Godliness as a Virtue).
  • God doesn’t force salvation on us (Can God See Us If We Are Sinners?).

Securing Salvation

  • God sees our deep need of His salvation and reveals Himself to us (How Do We Profit from Scriptures?).
  • God calls us and the Holy Spirit convicts us to salvation. But we have to choose to search for Him (Is Repentance Necessary?).
  • We approach Christ as Mediator and Priest when we are searching for salvation (How Do We Believe in Jesus?).
  • No, I don’t think it is going to be hard to sell God on forgiving us — when we genuinely go to Jesus for salvation. If we aren’t genuine but are just looking for fire insurance, I don’t – in my opinion – think Jesus intercedes for us (How Do We Believe in Jesus?).
  • Our salvation is personal. We can’t hook onto our parents’ salvation. We have to make the decision to admit our sins, believe on Jesus as our Savior and confess God as our Sovereign Lord on our own (Kindness and Love as Virtues).
  • All we have to do is ABC to gain access to God and obtain salvation (Can God See Us If We Are Sinners?).
  • God has made Himself very accessible to us. He was the one Who devised the plan of salvation to restore His relationship with mankind (What Are Heavenly Places?).
  • It is only through Jesus that we even have access to God. If Jesus hadn’t paid the price for our sins with His blood – and we hadn’t accepted the gift of salvation – we wouldn’t have access to God. We access this grace through faith (Is Thankfulness Different from Praise?).
  • We still have to access God’s grace by asking Him to forgive us. My ladies and I were talking about needing to do that daily (How Are Grace, Redemption, and Forgiveness Connected?)
  • Jesus also wants complete access to our hearts. He doesn’t want to leave any inch where Satan can worm his way in to derail us (The Fullness of God’s Love).
  • I like to think of it as there is no floor in heaven. If heaven doesn’t have a floor, there is no barrier between God and us. God has immediate access to us. He can see and hear all of us. He sees us, so He can shine on us (How Can God’s Face Shine on Us?).
  • God’s Word leads to salvation. It teaches us the plan of salvation and the justification needed for us to believe (Getting Obedience to the Heart Level, How Do We Profit from Scriptures?).
  • No, we don’t need to be law perfect for salvation (What Is the Relationship Between Righteousness and Wisdom?).
  • We get so caught up in God’s laws and commandments. We – and worldview people – get the mistaken notion that we have to 100% perfect in doing all the do’s and not doing any of the don’ts. Problem is, we can’t do that. If we were able to follow God’s law, we wouldn’t need a Savior. We can’t, so we do. That lowers the priority of obedience. No, it doesn’t take it off the table, but we don’t need law obedience for salvation (Why Jesus Became a Man).
  • We can only gain salvation and be made, holy, sanctified, and righteous by accepting Jesus through faith as our personal Savior (What Is the Relationship Between Righteousness and Wisdom?).
  • God sends His Holy Spirit to us to call us to salvation. We cannot just come to Him. That makes salvation a gift from Him to us (Faith as a Virtue).
  • We are called to salvation through the promptings of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit gives us wisdom so that we may choose salvation (What Is the Relationship Between Righteousness and Wisdom?).
  • “But to the one who does not work …” (Rom. 4: 5 CSB) – Ephesians 2: 8-9 says salvation was based on faith, not works (What Is Righteousness?).
  • Believing in a God that we cannot see takes a lot of faith, trust, and belief. That faith is what secures our salvation (Faith as a Virtue).
  • There is nothing that we could do to earn our salvation. We don’t work for salvation. The opportunity for our salvation was only was only available when Jesus shed His blood for us (What Is Righteousness?).
  • “… but believes on him who declares the ungodly to be righteous …” (Rom. 4: 5 CSB) – we are all ungodly until we accept that gift of salvation. When we do, we are declared righteous – and that has the past, present, and future aspect to it (What Is Righteousness?).

God planned for our salvation. Salvation is the deliverance from the consequences of sin. It is a three-part process.

  1. We are changed from spiritually dead to spiritually alive upon conversion.
  2. We work out our salvation on the sanctification road.
  3. One day, sin will be eliminated when we reach our heavenly home (Did Election Fail?).

Past Aspect

  • If we are justified before God – made right before God – that means something was wrong. The wrongs were we were spiritually dead; we were separated from God; and we were living a sinful life. When we accepted salvation, we were justified, so those things were fixed (Is Peace an Attitude?).

Present Aspect

  • It is right for us to transform ourselves to be holy. We do it out of gratitude for salvation (What Is the Relationship Between Righteousness and Holiness?).
  • Yes, we need salvation, but obedience to the laws is how we transform to be more like God (What Is the Relationship Between Righteousness and Obedience?).
  • Working out our salvation is not be an easy undertaking (What Is Diligence?)
  • We should have one purpose – working out our salvation so that we become mature disciples. We are going to need to discipline ourselves so that we don’t give up (How Does Perseverance Help Consistency?)

Future Aspect

  • This earth will end because God’s plan of salvation will be complete (How Are Disciples Humble?).

Benefits of Salvation

  • We have joy because we have salvation. This has given us peace, joy, and hope for today, tomorrow, and eternity (What Are the Fruits of Righteousness?).
