Now that we know what peace is, how do we implement it in our lives? We have to get it all the way down to heart level. This daily devotional reviews how we get God’s peace down to our core.
Devotions in the Self-Discipline Review series
We had been going through the process of salvation. We completed from sin to eternity.
But eternity has a couple of other topics that we have looked at over the past year. So, we’ve switched over to topics.
There are a couple of other major topics that we’ve discussed over the year that I want to review. They don’t really fit into the plan of salvation, so we are going to look at a couple now.
We are reviewing everything to, hopefully, put all of the building blocks together. What I am doing is going through all of the devotions for the year and pulling out the nuggets. I am formatting this as a glossary page.
later.
If peace is a gift from God, what does that mean for our lives? Let’s take a look.
Implementing Peace in Our Lives
Jesus’ peace has to rule our hearts. We’ve got to focus on Jesus to keep His peace. We bring on the turmoil ourselves if we don’t (Thankfulness in Prayer).
Our heart is battling the evil, so that our peace is pretty nonexistent at the time. We still have so much for which to be thankful (Thankfulness in Prayer).
God wanted to give me His peace. He wanted me to know that He was with me. God wanted me to know that He had plans for me. I know. God created an upsetting situation to show me His peace. It may sound a little mixed up. But it wasn’t. If He hadn’t, it wouldn’t have meant as much. I wouldn’t have remembered it these *cough* years later (Thankfulness in Prayer).
We must fight evil in our hearts. Therefore, our heart is what allows our peace to be stolen. If we aren’t alert, we let all these doubts and fears creep into our hearts and minds and steal our peace. It is our choice whether we are going to remain peaceful. In order to keep that peace, we have to watch (Thankfulness in Prayer).
We are generally good at being thankful — until the peace is gone. We have to watch that we don’t lose the thankfulness. Thankfulness is a choice. We have to choose to be thankful even when our peace is rocked (Thankfulness in Prayer).
Life will be better when we discipline ourselves to follow God’s laws and commandments. We can then tap into His love, peace, and joy (What Is Self-Discipline?).
We have to seek God and His blessings — peace, righteousness, and joy. These are that of which His kingdom is made (Are Disciples to be Docile?).
One way we imitate God is to become peacemakers. We can only do this as He floods us with His peace. If we are more like God, others can see the peace in us (How Are Disciples Peacemakers?).
Peace grows. It isn’t ours to command. We cannot grow it because, when things start getting difficult for us, we generally lose our peace. It is only when we concentrate on God in those trials that we find peace (What Are the Fruits of Righteousness?).
We have God’s Word — that is a comfort to us. When we read through the passages, the love, provision, and peace just floods us. When we truly seek Him, God is going to unleash all we need to sustain and support us (How Can We Find Comfort in Troubling Times?).
Our lives are so much more peaceful and joyful when we put our trust in Him. No, they aren’t smooth sailing. But when we give Him control, He fills us with that peace and joy (Does God Help Those Who Help Themselves?).
We have to show the worldview people how we are different than they are. We do that by showing them the peace and joy we find in God (Salvation in a Nutshell).
The focus should be on Jesus’ gospel of peace through salvation. Our goal is to bring the peace and joy we have found to those to whom we are witnessing (Putting Feet to the Plan of Salvation).
It is easier for us to act on fixed principles. That way we don’t waffle. Boy, doesn’t that promote peace (Honoring the Lord through Worship).
Doing God’s Will is exciting! We have a purpose that brings us fulfillment and peace (Asking for Prayers).
With God in control, we don’t abuse our bodies as much. We are at peace and less stressful when we put our trust in God (Rewards for Focusing on God).
The peace we have from God is inside us. It isn’t the absence of conflict. It is our trust in Him even in the storms. Confidence in God will give us peace of mind (But the Man after God’s Own Heart Was a Warrior; The Promise of Forgiveness).
Our character is supposed to be like God’s. He is peace and love (How Do Mature Disciples Control Anger?).
Can we have peace if we don’t have stability, security, and protection? Well, yes, we can. We don’t have those because we put our trust in feelings. We have them because we put our trust in God (Trust as the Foundation for Peace).
The peace comes because we are trusting Truth, not the lies of chaos. We are trusting the One who loves us unconditionally and everlastingly (Trust as the Foundation for Peace).
We find peace by delighting in God when we depend on Him. We are called to delight in the Lord, and He will give us our hearts’ desire – Himself (What Does Delight in the Lord Mean?).
We find peace by delighting in God when we depend on Him. Our dependence on Him should not be contingent on the circumstances surrounding us. We are to depend — and delight — on Him at all times (What Does Delight in the Lord Mean?).
When we lead with the humility, we get the tranquility. The tranquility comes when we realize peace comes from within (What Does Delight in the Lord Mean?).
Satisfaction promotes peace in our lives. This satisfaction is achieved when our spiritual needs are met (How Are Satisfaction and Peace Related to Spiritual Needs).
What brings us peace is being in a right relationship with God. Once we get where we are supposed to be in our spiritual life, God provides the peace (What Does Delight in the Lord Mean?).
When we pray to God about keeping us on the Sanctification Road, we are asking that we successfully make the end goal – Heaven. That alone should bring us peace as we contemplate the future rewards for being faithful and the rest from the struggles temptations create (How Are Satisfaction and Peace Related to Spiritual Needs?).
God does respond to our prayers. Many times, that response is to give us peace – even if the answer isn’t what we really wanted to hear (How Are Satisfaction and Peace Related to Spiritual Needs?).
Most of us don’t like the drama of life. We want a peaceful conscience. When we ABCD, that conscience has a new standard by which to determine right and wrong. We now evaluate our decisions on being obedient to God. It is when we choose to do what is right in God’s eyes that we become like Him. We are made righteous (The Fruits of Discerning the Voice of God).
When we discern the wisdom of God, it produces fruits of righteousness. The fruits of righteousness were eternal life, peace, access, and joy (The Fruits of Discerning the Voice of God).

God is not vicious and spiteful. God is love (I Jn. 4: 8) and peace (Phil. 4: 7) (Can We Really Identify God’s Wrath?).
God is the God of Peace. Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Comprehending the Effects of Salvation).
One aspect of the peace Jesus was leaving for us was the Helper (Who Is the Holy Spirit?).
Peace comes from God. He gives us peace down deep in our soul. It is the product of living for Him (What Are the Fruits of Righteousness?).
We gain access to Sovereign God by the reconciliation He devised. We access the peace provided by our Lord and Savior through following the promptings of the Holy Spirit (What Are the Fruits of Righteousness?).
Being in His Presence gives us the deepest peace (Who Is the Holy Spirit?).
We can take anything to Jesus. He will give us peace (Asking for Prayers).
While we are laboring doing God’s Will, while we let our minds go zero to 90 in 0.3 seconds, and while we are waiting to be rescued, we can have peace. It is God’s nature and purpose (Asking for Prayers).

We must choose God to unify us. God is the God of love, peace, and unity (Rebuilding Together under Difficult Circumstances).

God readily gives us peace and helps us grow into holiness (Staying Strong in God during Hard Times to Build Hope).
God can handle whatever comes up in our lives. He can comfort us and give us peace (Isaiah’s Message on Renewal).

Peace, not Conflict
Peacemakers work to foster peace and reconciliation. I think most of the worldview people think this means no conflict. I don’t think it does. Oh, yes. I don’t think disciples should be confrontational. I think this means reconciliation with God and spreading His peace to those who need it (How Are Disciples Peacemakers?).
We are not called to be contentious. We are called to be unified (What Are Moral Sins?).
Because our spirit comes from God, disciples shouldn’t be contentious (How Are Disciples Peacemakers?).
Being peacemakers includes a willingness to compromise. That takes the ability to realistically see all sides and determine a fair middle ground (How Are Disciples Peacemakers?).
God wants His church to be unified and at peace. He is the God of peace, isn’t He? If we aren’t at peace, what kind of witness are we giving? (Focus on Love, not Evil).
Support in the form of prayers from fellow disciples helps to give us peace (Asking for Prayers).
God wants us to be part of the family. He wants us to be familiar enough with each other that we are comfortable enough to ask for prayer from each other. That will promote peace in our lives (Asking for Prayers).
God does want us to work out compromises to disciples’ problems. We can’t compromise on His laws and commandments, but we can work together for peace of the fellowship (The Council Had Spoken).
Cooperation is an important aspect of being a disciple. We are to live in peace with each other (Spreading the Work Around).
If we limit the determination of our satisfaction to this life, we will miss the boat. This world is structured to be chaotic and divisive. We won’t find lasting peace. We can’t focus on the satisfaction and peace of this world at the detriment of our eternal (How Are Satisfaction and Peace Related to Spiritual Needs?).
Father God. When we focus on You, You give us Your peace. It is our prayer that we imitate You in order to grow in Your peace, righteousness, and joy. Amen.
