The King James Version has a very interesting translation. It says, “And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first …” (Lk. 6: 1 KJV).
Sadler interpreted this for us. He cautioned that there in no definitive answer. He believed the first Sabbath — or the most important Sabbath — was Passover. John identified the Sabbath as a high day (KJV, ESV, NKJV) or a special day (NIV, NLT, CSB, HCSB).

The next most important Sabbath to them was Pentecost. It was held 50 days after Passover and considered a Sabbath day.
