Humility is a character trait stressing dependence on God and a modest view of our importance with respect to others.
- Peace is a fruit of righteousness that implies cooperation, humility, integrity, communication, and cohesiveness (The Rewards of Faithfulness).
- Humility is an element of true worship (How Do We Worship through Praise?).
- We show God’s merit when we give Him reverence. When we respond in humility, we show that we agree that He is higher than us. Our trust, love, and hope show how much we believe in His love and provision (How Do We Worship through Praise?).
- Taylor gives a list of things about which we are to be vigilant: food, drink, pleasures, and thoughts. The virtues Satan will be attacking are temperance, chastity, humility, modesty, and contentment (What Is Diligence?).
- Poverty of spirit is really about knowing we are nothing without God. The humility, contentment, submission, and gratitude provide a peace (Are Disciples to be Docile?).
- We become humble when we put the past in its place — in the past. We can puff up our importance based on what has happened in the past. But it can also wreck our contentment (Are Disciples to be Docile?).
- If we aren’t content, we don’t have the confidence that God can provide for us. If we are prideful, we don’t have humility (Are Disciples to be Docile?).
- If we think about being easily taught, God will teach us through trials humility and patience. The results of the trials should be contentment, submission, gratitude, trust, and hope (Are Disciples to be Docile?).
- Bottom line is the humility of a disciple is because we know we have sinned and fall short of God’s glory (Rom. 3: 23). We need to submit to His Will (How Are Disciples Humble?).
- I think the bottom line with mercy is humility. If we don’t perform whatever act of mercy in humility, it really isn’t mercy (How Are Disciples Merciful?).
- We should approach God in humility. We have to realize we are sinners – even sinners saved by grace. We have to acknowledge that the only way we can gain eternal life is through belief in Jesus as our Savior and Redeemer (What Is Piety?).
- This submission to God creates in us a clean heart (Ps. 51: 10). This is needed because humility goes against what the worldview teaches. The worldview advocates that we value our knowledge and abilities (What Is Piety?).
