God’s Chosen People
- God loves those who love and submit to Him. He has special blessings set aside for those who admit their sins, believe in Jesus as their Savior and Redeemer, and confess Him as Sovereign Lord (What Is Expected of Disciples?).
- Usually, when we hear the term His people, we think that the Wilderness Wanderers are the ones being referenced. They are, generally, the ones to whom are being referred. While the New Testament disciples were generally called children of God, they – and we – are still God’s people. We are still covenant people (How Do We Benefit from Being God’s People?)
- His chosen people are also called the elect (What Is Expected of Disciples?).
- The defining aspect of being God’s elect is we are all to be holy. Holy means to be set apart, perfect, and pure. When non-believers see the evidence of our being pure and set apart, they begin to equate that with our being God’s elect (What Is Expected of Disciples?).
- Being God’s chosen people make us His treasure. “The LORD has declared today that you are his people, his own special treasure, just as he promised, and that you must obey all his commands” (Deut. 26: 18 NLT) (What Is Expected of Disciples?).
- God is present with His people. “Then I will live among the people of Israel and be their God” (Ex. 29: 45 NLT). His plan for Israel would be accomplished (Blessings, Not Curses).
God Chose Mankind but Not as His People
- God didn’t choose the angels. He did choose Satan and his demons to fix. He chose us (What Is Election?).
- It might be easy to say God chose the Jews to be His people – He did. However, He chose all mankind (What Is Election).
- God chose the Gentiles – a.k.a. us – along with the Jews. To me, this makes it evident mankind is elected – not just a certain race, ethnicity, or nationality – we could probably list a lot of qualifiers that God doesn’t even look at (How Is the Mission to be Inclusive?).
- God chose mankind to whom to show His love. After we disobeyed Him, He has provided His plan of salvation for all who will accept. He doesn’t offer it to Tom, but not to Sally or Elaine. God offers it to everyone (What Is Expected of Disciples?).
- There is no evidence that God does not love non-believers. In fact, there is evidence to the opposite (What Is Expected of Disciples?).
- We become children of God when we asked Jesus to become our Lord and Savior (Jn. 1: 12). Our faith makes us heirs of God (Gal. 3: 26). Our inheritance is a reward for doing God’s Will (How Are Disciples Humble?).
- “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Mt. 24: 14 NLT). Everyone has to have the opportunity to choose God (What Happens to the Antichrist?).
- God wants us to make a conscious decision for Him. That is why He gave us free will. Free will is the ability within us to make decisions, which determine actions that produce character (Rewards for Focusing on God).
- God still leaves us with free will. We still have to choose — daily — whether we are going to follow Him that day or not (The Battle Between the Flesh and the Spirit).
- God brings the plan of salvation to everyone (I Tim. 2: 4). If we don’t choose God, we don’t get the gift of salvation. We aren’t the elect (What Is Election?).
- Instead of forcing His rule on us, God allows us free will to choose to submit to Him. When we do submit to Him, He expects obedience (What Is Obedience?).
